    • If you are rooted, you can use root to execute privileged commands.
    • Optionally display a notification or console output from the command.
    • If you are running Tasker, you can output all of these values to user-defined Tasker variables.

Device Administrator Actions

  • Enable or Disable the Camera
    • Requires Android 4.0+
    • For security reasons, you can disable the camera(s) on your device.
  • Lock the device
    • Lock the device and turn off the screen.
  • Lock Screen Widgets [4.2+]
    • Enable or Disable the lock screen's widgets
  • Set or Reset the device Password or Pin
    • Store a password or pin (encrypted using 128 bit AES encryption) so that you can enable and disable your password.
    • Added functionality: Wait until the password has been entered once successfully before unlocking the device.

    • On 4.0+, this toggles the 'Restrict Background Data' option.
  • Set Background Process Limit [4.0+, Pro]
    • Set the number of processes to 'keep' in the background.
  • Force GPU Rendering [4.0+]
    • Allows you to toggle GPU rendering on your device.
  • Hardware Overlays [4.1+, Pro]
    • Allows you to toggle the Hardware Overlays for your device
  • Package Notification [4.1+]
    • Toggle the ability for an app to show a notification

    • Clear App Cache, App Data, App defaults or Force Close an app
  • Package State (Previously Package Manager)
    • Enable/Disable user or system apps.

Helper Actions

If you are rooted, you can install the Secure Settings Helper app.
The Helper is a small listener application that sits in the system partition that will execute commands given by this application.
Android grants applications in the system partition access to more 'Secure Settings'. It is because of this that the application needs root access to be installed.

With this installed, you gain access to the following functions:

Internet Settings Secure Protocols Registry

  • Enable or Disable Accessibility Services
    • Allows for toggling installed Accessibility Services.
  • Enable or Disable Data Roaming
    • Allows for toggling the data roaming functionality in the Settings.
  • Enable or Disable Day Dreaming [4.2+]
  • Set Active Day Dream [4.2+]
  • Enable or Disable GPS
    • Allows you to set whether the GPS is on or off.
    • This is useful for devices running Android 2.3+
  • Update Lock Screen Owner Info
    • Requires Android 3.0+
    • Allows you to update the lock screen text.
  • Change Input Methods
    • Switch between currently enabled input methods without the prompt!
    • Helpful if you would like a certain keyboard when in portrait versus landscape mode.
    • Or if you would like to use a certain keyboard for specific applications.
  • Enable or Disable Location Services
    • Allows you to choose whether to use your network location for location awareness.
  • Set Lock Screen Timeout [4.0+, Pro]
    • Set how long before the Lock Screen times out after the screen shuts off.
  • Enable or Disable NFC
    • Allows you to enable/disable NFC functionality (if your device supports it).
  • Enable or Disable Pattern Lock
    • Allows you to turn the pattern lock screen on and off.
    • Added functionality: Wait until the pattern has been entered once successfully before unlocking the device!
  • Enable or Disable Unknown Sources
    • Allows or disallows the installation of third party apps.
  • Enable or Disable USB Debugging
    • Allows your device to interface with your computer when plugged in via USB.
    • Keeping ADB enabled can be a bit of a security risk, especially if you're rooted. With this you can pick and choose when to have it enabled.
  • Enable or Disable WiFi Optimization [4.2+]
    • Toggles option in the Advanced WiFi Settings
  • Enable or Disable WiFi Scanning [4.3+]
    • Toggles option in the Advanced WiFi Settings

    • Similar to Wireless ADB but instead leverages the built-in functionality in CM9
  • Expand Desktop [CM10/Paranoid Android]
    • Allows you to toggle the Expanded Desktop state for your device

    • Fast Charge allows your device to charge faster when plugged into USB

  • Device Administrator Access
    • Required if you wish to lock the device or set/reset the password
  • Storage Access
    • Required for the Run Command function to write to the SD Card
  • Full Network Access
    • Required to download and check for updates for the Helper application
  • System Tools
    • Required for the Keyguard and Wake Lock functionality
  • Write Secure Settings
    • Required for performing Helper functions when installed as system app

    • Required if you wish to install the Helper or run privileged commands from the Run Command function
