I have recently purchased an audi sat navignition plus for my a3, but can't seem to get the sat nat working on it. It just has a message on the screen when I press sat nav, saying please insert navigation medium.
I have recently bought a 2011 A6 3.0 from a non-Audi dealer. Very nice car and quite different from my previous A4 2.0TFSI.
It has the RMC MMI which has the nav maps on an SD card. I didn't realise until after I took delivery that the SD card was missing and therefore the navigation wouldn't work.
I spoke to the dealer and they have sent me a 'Europa 2013' SD card with a part number 8X0919884E. Obviously not the original card that came with the car.
This card doesn't work and shows a message 'Navigation data are not enabled'. Googling the message indicates the card needs 'activating' for the car.
I've spoken to two different people at Audi, one person said that this card can work and just needs activating at a cost of £81. Another person at Audi has said it won't work and I need a new SD card and activation at a cost of around £250.
So my question is: will the SD card with part number 8X0919884E work with my A6 if it gets activated?
I just want to get the facts straight before I go back to the dealer with the costs.
